An outdoor guide sign for the exhibition ARTS & ROUTES: Journeys Through In-Between Spaces.
It was a large sign, but since only two were needed, we borrowed a corner of the backyard at the Akita Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition venue, and improvised everything—from the support structure to the printing. Carpenters Mr. Tatsuhiro Ara and textile designer Ms. Yō Ōe joined me. We went to a nearby home center to get wood, outdoor paint, and spray cans. First, they built the support. On top of that, I used spray paint to set the position of the face. Once that was in place, the overall layout became visible, and I printed the exhibition information with silkscreen.
