YOSHIKATSU

日本酒「掌」のためのラベルを制作。依頼は近所の酒店主との問答のようなやり取りから始まった。200本限定の酒で印刷所に依頼するのは非効率、家庭用プリンタでは安っぽい。そこで縁あって入手した箔押し機を用いた。真鍮板をハサミで切って、文字の形に並べ、ハンダゴテで簡易溶接し、箔元版を制作した。

A label was created for the sake Tenohira (“Palm”). The commission began as a kind of dialogue with the owner of a neighborhood liquor shop. Since only 200 bottles were produced, outsourcing to a print shop would be inefficient, while a home printer would look cheap. Instead, I used a foil stamping press I had obtained through a connection. I cut brass plates with shears, arranged them into the shape of the character, and lightly welded them with a soldering iron to produce the stamping plate.
