吉勝だんご木

小正月のお飾り

年の初めに市が立つ。山形初市へ出店依頼があり、縁起の良い市だから縁起を担げるものを売りたいなと小正月に柱へ飾りつける縁起物「だんご木」を吉勝なりに作ってみることにした。「だんご木」は山の「幸」を家の中へ運びいれる道具だ。購入すると、制作の過程で「だんご木」ついて調べたり考えたことをまとめた小冊子『だんご木考』がついてくる。

At the start of the year, a city market is held. I was invited to set up a stall at the Yamagata Hatsuichi (First Market of the Year), and since it is an auspicious event, I wanted to sell something that could carry good fortune. I decided to create my own version of the traditional New Year’s ornament dango-ki, which is hung on pillars during the Little New Year to bring luck. The dango-ki is a tool for bringing the “blessings” of the mountains into the home. With each purchase comes a small booklet, Thoughts on the Dango-ki, which summarizes what I researched and considered during the making process.
